Congregational Nurse

As a Congregational Nurse (CN), a registered nurse may act as a link between our church family and medical communities. There are several dimensions to this volunteer role. The CN does not provide physical nursing care yet works to assure the health-related needs our church families are met through the gifts we each receive from the Holy Spirit. This role may include:

  • Health Educator, providing or coordinating educational programs to the congregation such as health screenings and illness prevention.
  • “Navigator” or “Advocate,” assisting congregants in finding their way through healthcare systems.
  • Referral Agent, finding resources and assisting with making referrals to agencies, organizations and support services to improve the individual’s quality of life.
  • Trainer of Volunteers, recruiting and training volunteers to support the Ministry.
